Wendall Anschutz's oil paintings have been praised for their spectacular color, rhythm and use of light. While these qualities are reflected in his portraits, still lifes and cityscapes, his current passion is scenes of his native Kansas, with its plateaus and river valleys, golden fields of wheat, postrock fences and farmsteads and the often-dominating sky.
